During the 1990s, upon completing her university degree Isabel dos Santos worked in Europe for Cooppers & Lybrand a leading consulting & financial advisory firm (actual PwC). Following, her return to Angola Isabel dos Santos worked as an engineer and project manager in recycling projects, for a company part of the Jembas group. In 1995 she started her own business by creating a F&B company, and a beverage distribution and logistics company. She is a the Chairman of UNITEL, one of Angola’s two mobile phone networks, where she started working in 1998 as an engineer and project manager. Since 2005 she has had relevant interests in telecommunications, media, retail, finance and the energy industry, both in Angola and in Portugal. She is also member of the board of Angola’s Banco BIC and majority shareholder in BFA. In Portugal, she was a former member of the Board of Directors of NOS, a listed telecom & cable TV company.
With more than 15 years experience in business and senior management , currently, Isabel dos Santos has been appointed chairwoman of Angola’s national oil company Sonangol.
Charif Souki co-founded Tellurian with Martin Houston in February 2016 and serves as Chairman.
Previously, Charif founded Cheniere Energy in 1996 and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and President until December 2015. Before founding Cheniere, he had over 20 years of independent investment banking experience in the energy industry and specialized in financing for small capitalization companies with an emphasis on the oil and gas industry.
Charif currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the American University of Beirut, as a member of the Advisory Board of the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, and on the International Advisory Board for the Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Texas Children’s Hospital. He received a BA from Colgate University and an MBA from Columbia University.
Mr. Gyetvay worked in various capacities at a number of independent oil and gas companies in the United States where he specialized in financial and economic analysis for both upstream and downstream segments of the petroleum industry, as well as a former partner in PWC’s Petroleum practice based in Moscow from 1995 to 2003.
From 2003 to 2014, Mr. Gyetvay was a member of NOVATEK’s Board of Directors and served as the Chairman on the Strategy and Investment Committee. Since July 2010, he became Deputy Chairman of NOVATEK’s Management Board. He has been consistently recognized by Investor Relations Magazine as one of the best CFO’s in Russia and the CIS by winning numerous awards and accolades, and was recognized twice by Institutional Investor magazine as one of the Top Five CFO’s in Europe’s Oil and Gas sector. Mr. Gyetvay was recently the recipient of the Finance Monthly 2015 and 2016 “Best CFO – Russia” and “Game Changer Award – Russia ” 2017.
H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber is a Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates and member of the federal cabinet. As minister, he is responsible for handling strategic portfolios. As CEO of ADNOC, Dr. Al Jaber oversees the operations and growth of the Group.

Since 2011 Dr. Al Jaber has served on the United Nations Secretary General’s High Level Group on Sustainable Energy for All and in 2012 was recognized as a “Champion of the Earth,” the United Nations’ flagship award for outstanding visionaries and leaders in the fields of policy, science and entrepreneurship. In 2013 Dr. Al Jaber was also appointed an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Douglas MacKenzie is a Managing Director with primary responsibility for coverage of the large capitalization Integrated Oils and Independent Producers both in the U.S and abroad. Mr. MacKenzie maintains offices in Houston and London and leads Citi’s energy franchise in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Mr. MacKenzie has almost thirty years of experience in energy finance as both an investment banker and investor. Mr. MacKenzie is a former head of Morgan Stanley’s Global Energy Group where he originated the “Super Major” concept and advised on many of the highest profile strategic transactions in the energy sector. He has also advised numerous sovereign states and national oil companies including those of Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and China. Mr. MacKenzie benefits from the perspective of an investor gained through both private equity and as manager of an energy hedge fund.
Immediately post the events of 9/11, Mr. MacKenzie retrained as a paramedic and served the community full time in that capacity for almost five years. Since returning to Wall Street, he has continued to serve the community as a volunteer paramedic on weekends and holidays.
Douglas has an engineering degree from McGill University and an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. Mr. MacKenzie is a former refinery engineer with Exxon’s Canadian subsidiary Imperial Oil, Limited.

Moreover, he is member of the Advisory Board of Telefonica Latam and Telefonica Open Future, and serves on the boards of Abertis, Arch Capital Group and Capital Advisors Partners Asia.
Previously, Mr. Gutiérrez served as Chairman of Telefónica Group in Argentina, as Board and Audit Committee member of Telefónica Sao Paulo (Brazil) and as Chairman of the Board of Autopistas del Oeste S.A. Dmitri V. Trenin, PhD, has been the Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center since 2008, and was the first Russian to be appointed to this position. He is also a senior associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Before joining Carnegie in 1994, he served in the Soviet and Russian armed forces. Col. (Ret.) Trenin’s postings included Iraq (with the military assistance group, 1975–1976), Germany (liaison with the Western powers in Berlin, 1978–1983), and Switzerland (INF, Defense and Space, and START talks, 1985–1991). For several years, Trenin taught area studies at the Defense University in Moscow. He was also the first non-NATO senior fellow at the NATO Defense College (1993) and, upon retirement from the military, a visiting professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (1993–1994). In 1994–1997, Trenin was also a senior research fellow at the Institute of Europe, Russian Academy of Sciences. Dmitri Trenin received his PhD from the Institute of the USA and Canada, Soviet Academy of Sciences (1984).

After qualifying to practice law in Italy and UK he worked for few years in private legal practice in Milan and London. In 1993 he joined Eni’s Legal Department, specializing in international negotiations and contracts, specifically on international gas/LNG supplies and projects and joint ventures for the commercialization and transport of gas.
In 2001 he was appointed legal Director of Eni’s Gas & Power Division. His main task was participating to the management for Eni of the start-up phase of the liberalization of the gas market in Italy and the unbundling of the national and international network for the transport of gas.
In October 2005 he was appointed Senior Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs in Eni S.p.A.
He has been Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs in Eni from 2014 to 2016, the department managed all legal and energy regulatory issues of eni and its non-listed subsidiaries.

Stefano Cao is an Italian engineer and senior business management executive with vast experience in the energy and infrastructure sector.
Since 30 April 2015 he has been Chief Executive Officer of Saipem S.p.A., a leading global company in the Engineering & Construction and Drilling business lines, with a strong bias towards oil & gas-related activities in remote areas and deep waters.
After graduating in Mechanical Engineering from the “La Sapienza” University in Rome, Mr. Cao began his career in the Eni Group in 1976, first in Saipem S.p.A. – which he left as Executive Chairman in 2000 – and subsequently in Eni S.p.A. – which he left in 2008 as Chief Operating Officer of the Exploration & Production Division.
From February 2009 to June 2012 Mr Cao was Managing Director and CEO of Sintonia SA, a holding company in the infrastructure sector established as the result of a joint venture between Edizione Holding, Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners, Mediobanca and GIC.

As of March 1, 2017, Laurence Tubiana is CEO of the European Climate Foundation (ECF). In addition to her role at ECF, she is the Chair of the Board of Governors at the French Development Agency (AFD), and a Professor at Sciences Po, Paris. Before joining ECF, Laurence was France Climate Change Ambassador and Special Representative for COP21, and as such a key architect of the landmark Paris Agreement. Following COP21, she was appointed High Level Champion for climate action.
Laurence brings decades of expertise and experience in climate change, energy, agriculture and sustainable development, working across government, think tanks, NGOs and academia: From 1997 to 2002, she served as Senior Adviser on the Environment to the French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. From 2009 to 2010, she created and then led the newly established Directorate for Global Public Goods at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE). In 2013, she chaired the French National Debate on the Energy Transition. In 2002, she founded and then directed until 2014 the Paris-based Institute of Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI). In the 80’s and early 90’s she founded and then led Solagral, an NGO working on food security and the global environment.
Christof Rühl is Global Head of Research at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), responsible for creating and leading a global research function to provide economic, geopolitical and energy analysis to the Fund. He assumed this role in August 2014.
Christof has a distinguished track record as an economist in business, academia an policy formation. From 2005 to 2014 he served as Group Chief Economist and Vice President of BP plc. Between 1998 and 2005 he was at the World Bank, including as the Bank’s Chief Economist in Russia and in Brazil. From 1996-98 he held the position of Principle Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Christof began his career as an academic economist, first at the Universities of Bremen and Hohenheim in Germany, and from 1991 as a Professor of Economics at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
Christof has held visiting professorships at academic institutions worldwide. His areas of specialisation are macroeconomics and energy economics; he is published and quoted widely in these fields.
Tim Dove is president and chief executive officer of Pioneer Natural Resources. He is a member of Pioneer’s management committee and also serves on Pioneer’s board of directors.
Dove joined Parker & Parsley in 1994 as vice president of business development and was promoted to senior vice president in 1996 where he served until the formation of Pioneer in 1997. With Pioneer, Dove held the position of executive vice president – business development until 2000 when he was promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer. In 2004, Dove was named the Company’s president and chief operating officer. Dove was elected to the board of directors in 2013. In 2017, he was named president and chief executive officer.
Prior to joining Parker & Parsley, Dove worked for Diamond Shamrock Corporation and a successor, Maxus Energy Corporation. Dove currently serves on the Corporate Development Committee of MIT and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas Foundation. He was also a member of the Dream Dallas Advisory Council for Habitat for Humanity. He previously served as a trustee for the KidLinks Foundation, as chairman of the Dallas Wildcat Committee and as president of the Dallas Petroleum Club board of directors.
Pierre is French, born in 1956 and graduated from Université Paris II Panthéon Assas & Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne, and from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (IEP) Paris. He holds a Master of Advanced Study degree in public law, and is CAPA-certificated to practice as a barrister in France.
Pierre worked in London (Midland Bank, International Division), Belgium – Société Générale and SOGEM in 1989 as CFO and then Executive Director & Chairman of the Management Committee. He joins Rexel as CFO in 1997.

Deborah Gordon is the director of the Energy and Climate Program and a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. A chemical engineer by training, Gordon’s research focuses on oil and climate change issues, both in North America and globally. Her current research has spearheaded the development of the Oil-Climate Index, a first-of-its-kind tool to compare the climate impacts of global oils.
After beginning her career with Chevron, Gordon managed an active energy and environmental consulting practice, taught at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and directed the Energy Policy Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. She is a policy entrepreneur who developed motor vehicle feebates while at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory under a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Gordon has testified before Congress, lectures regularly, and has served on National Academy of Sciences and other government committees. Gordon is currently serving as a nonresident senior fellow at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs.

Thomas Healy is the driving force behind Hyliion. As a mechanical engineer and a motorsports racer, Healy set out to bring the advantages of hybrid technology to tractor trailers. His mission to reduce emissions from long-haul, over-the-road delivery fleets by bringing electric technology to tractor trailers has won numerous accolades from the U.S. Department of Energy, Shell Technology Ventures and NASA Tech Briefs Create the Future, among others. Healy holds dual degrees from Carnegie Mellon and has been featured in the NY Times as a technical author and has founded 2 prior startups. Most recently Mr. Healy became a member of Forbes 30 under 30 list.

Prior to joining UBS, Tom spent almost 20 years at Morgan Stanley as Global Head of Energy and Managing Director. During his investment banking career, has had responsibility for US, Latin America, Asia and Middle East energy investment banking. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Tom worked for McKinsey & Company and Exxon
Alex Beard joined Glencore in May 1995 working in the oil commodity department as a Crude oil trader, responsible primarily for the CIS region and gaining expertise in high sulphur crudes.
Mr. Beard was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas business in February 2007, overseeing all of Glencore’s crude oil and oil products marketing, shipping, exploration and production and other oil-related investments, as well as being a director of various other Glencore Group companies.
Mr. Beard holds an M.A. degree in Biochemistry from University of Oxford. Before Glencore, he worked for five years for BP in its crude oil department.
Dr. Bernard J. Duroc-Danner is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford International plc, a worldwide provider of mechanical solutions, technology and services for the international drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry. Weatherford operates through an extensive infrastructure in over 100 countries and employs about 40,000 people worldwide.
In 1987 Dr. Duroc-Danner was present from inception for the start-up of EVI, Inc., Weatherford’s predecessor company, and led its growth and development in the oil-field services and equipment industry. In 1998, EVI, Inc., acquired Weatherford Enterra and adopted the new name of Weatherford International, Inc. Weatherford’s growth thereon was both organic and acquisitive. Organic focus and growth has become gradually more important.
In 2000, Weatherford dividended Grant Prideco, its tubular and drill pipe subsidiary, to its shareholders and Grant traded separately on the New York Stock Exchange.
Dr. Duroc-Danner is a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Jean-Marie Dauger is President of GIIGNL, The International Group of Liquefied Natural Gas Importers. Until 2015, Jean-Marie DAUGER was ENGIE Executive Vice President in charge for Global Gas and LNG business line, and a member of its General Management Committee and of its Executive Committee. Jean-Marie Dauger was Chairman of the Board of Directors of GDF SUEZ E&P Norge (2004-2015) and Director of Electrabel (2008-2015). Prior to this, he was Chief Operating Officer of Gaz de France and Head of the Global Gas & LNG Business Line of Gaz de France. He held several positions in Supply and Strategy Divisions before being appointed Executive Vice President of Gaz de France in 2000. He joined Gaz de France in 1978 in the Transmission and Production Division. Jean-Marie Dauger began his career in different positions at Péchiney, Trad Bank (Lebanon) and in the Finance Division of EDF. He is a graduate of HEC business school.
Mr Gordenker is Chairman of JERA Co., Inc., a position he assumed in April 2016. He acted as senior advisor to JERA from its founding in April 2015 until becoming Chairman.
Mr Gordenker first lived in Japan in the early 1980s, which created a life-long connection. He studied law and international affairs at Columbia and Princeton Universities, and began practicing law in Washington DC in 1988. He focused on Japan-related matters, and gained experience in LNG and power project development. In 2000, Mr Gordenker joined White & Case LLP as a partner of the Tokyo Office. There he built a highly regarded energy and project finance team, and became known regionally and globally as a leading energy lawyer, with particular expertise in LNG and power. Mr Gordenker’s work over time increasingly focused on strategic matters, and from 2015, he began acting as an independent strategic advisor.
Lord Browne was born in 1948. He holds degrees in Physics from Cambridge and an MS in Business from Stanford.
He joined BP in 1966 as a university apprentice, between 1969 and 1983 had a variety of exploration and production posts in North America and the UK, and in 1984 became Group Treasurer and Chief Executive of BP Finance International. He held senior roles during the BP/Standard and BP/Amoco mergers in 1987 and 1998 and was appointed Group Chief Executive in 1998. He left in 2007.
He is Executive Chairman of L1 Energy and Chairman of Huawei UK, Stanhope Capital, and the Accenture Global Energy Board. He is a director of Pattern Energy and a member of the advisory boards of Edelman, Schillings and the big data technology companies Affiniti, Kayrros, Windward and Neos.
Lord Browne was voted Most Admired CEO by Management Today every year between 1999 and 2002, was knighted in 1998 and made a life peer in 2001.

Rob graduated from the University of Leeds in 1979 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After joining Mobil Corporation in 1981, he held various engineering, operational and commercial positions in the U.K., Canada and the U.S.A.
In 1994 Rob became Asset Manager for Mobil’s operations in the Southern North Sea, and in 1997 he accepted the assignment as Managing Director of Mobil Gas Marketing (U.K.) based in London. Following the Exxon Mobil merger in 1999 Rob became European Gas Marketing Manager.
In 2001 Rob moved to Houston to become Vice President of New Business Development for ExxonMobil Gas & Power Marketing Company with global responsibility for the commercial development of major new gas ventures.
In 2007 Rob was appointed Executive Assistant to the Chairman of Exxon Mobil Corporation, based in Irving, Texas.
In 2008 Rob was appointed U.K. Lead Country Manager & Vice President – Production, Europe, Caspian & Russia.
In May 2009 Rob was appointed President, ExxonMobil Upstream Ventures based in Houston, Texas.

Gretchen Watkins has been Chief Executive Officer since October 2016 and a member of Maersk Oil’s Executive Team since joining as Chief Operating Officer in 2014.
Gretchen has worked in a variety of leadership roles in North America, Europe and Asia.
At Marathon Oil she managed large production portfolios of both offshore and onshore assets across many countries. Previously Gretchen spent 18 years with Amoco and BP where she held a variety of executive leadership positions.

Alastair Crooke is Director of the Conflicts Forum based in Italy and Lebanon. He was formerly an advisor on Middle East issues to Javier Solana, the EU Foreign Policy Chief. He was a staff member of Senator George Mitchell’s Fact-Finding Committee, which inquired into the causes of the Intifada between 2000 and 2001, an adviser to the International Quartet and he facilitated various cease-fires in the Occupied Territories. Mr. Crooke has 20 years’ experience working with Islamist movements, particularly Hamas and Hezbollah as well as other Islamist movements in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East. He is author of Resistance: The Essence of the Islamist Revolution (2009) and is a regular media commentator in the international media, both in print and on television. He is a member of the United Nations Alliance of Civilization’s Global Experts Panel.
Jeremy Weir was appointed CEO of Trafigura in March 2014 after a career spanning nearly three decades in commodity and commodity derivative markets. An Australian national, he joined the Trafigura Group in 2001 as head of metals derivatives, structured products and risk management. Immediately prior to his current appointment he served as a Management Board Director, Head of Risk and CEO of Galena Asset Management and Trafigura Mining Group.
Before Trafigura, Jeremy spent nearly nine years with between 1992 and 2000 with N M Rothschild. In Australia he set up the group’s non-ferrous metals derivatives business and developed structured products alongside its resource banking activities before relocating to London and joining the main board.
Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Geology from the University of Melbourne and lives in Geneva, Switzerland.
Established in 1993, Trafigura is a leader in the commodities business. Trafigura has achieved substantial growth in recent years, growing revenue from USD18 billion in 2004 to USD98.1 billion in 2016. The Group’s primary trading businesses are the supply and transport of crude oil, petroleum products, renewable energies, coal, refined metals, ferrous and non-ferrous ores and concentrates.
Katan joined SG in 2006 having spent 5 years in the industry with BG Group including commercial roles based in Brazil, Tunisia and Iran. He has cultivated a wide experience of advisory and arranging roles across the energy sector including LNG, refineries, pipelines and upstream successfully raising multi-billion dollar financings in emerging market jurisdictions and is widely recognized by the industry for his expertise. He currently leads a number of flagship advisory deals for the bank including Mozambique LNG which is set to represent the largest-ever sub-investment debt raise for USD 15 billion. He also leads a couple of equity private placements for LNG projects in Africa and the U.S. He has led and closed deals in a number of African countries where he is regarded as a prominent thought-leader and is closely involved in the development of LNG-to-power and floating LNG projects. He led the lending of the STAR refinery, and is involved in the LNG-to-power deal in Ghana. Katan led the financing of the landmark USD 3.7 billion Egyptian Refining Company (ERC) financing. He has worked extensively with multi-laterals, DFI’s and export credit agencies and played a key role in new product development including mezzanine, equity, A/B loan structures. ERC, which closed in 2012, won a host of plaudits for its structure and ability to weather multiple political and financial storms winning deal of the year in 2012 and representing the largest non-recourse financing in Africa to date, and notably one with no completion guarantee. It has an unprecedented capital structure comprising DFI’s, commercial banks, multi-laterals and private equity. Katan is a regular industry speaker and has a number of publications to his name. In 2012, he was nominated for the Financial News “Rising Stars” under 40 awards having become one of the banks youngest ever managing directors. In 2013, he became the first investment banker to secure a position on the Gastech steering committee highlighting his contribution to the industry. In 2014, he was selected for the advisory board of the Global African Investment Summit. In 2015, he was selected as part of “World Finance 100” as a leader in financing for emerging markets. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from King’s College London and is holder of the Tadion-Rideal prize for contribution to Molecular Science.
Mark Lewis is a Managing Director and Head of European Utilities research at Barclays. Previously, he was Chief Energy Economist at Kepler Cheuvreux (2014-15), and Managing Director and Global Head of Energy Research at Deutsche Bank, where he worked for 14 years. His research on power, gas, and emissions was ranked Number 1 by Energy Risk magazine in its 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008 surveys.
In addition to his experience as a sell-side financial analyst, Mark spent one years as Deputy Head of investor relations at E.ON (2004-05), and two years as a credit analyst covering the European utility sector at Standard & Poor’s (1997-99). In to-tal, Mark has 18 years’ experience as a financial analyst covering global energy markets, and has also worked prior to that as an academic at London University.
Since May 2016 Mark has been a member of the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure, which was established by FSB Chairman Mark Carney in January 2016 under the chairmanship of the Honoura-ble Michael J. Bloomberg.
Mark is a British Citizen and holds a BA (First-Class Hons) in Modern Languages and Economics from Sheffield University, an MPhil from Cambridge University, and an MA from London University.
Øvrum has been Executive Vice President of Statoil ASA since September 2004.
Øvrum has worked for Statoil since 1982 and has held central management positions in the company, including the position of executive vice president for health, safety and the environment and executive vice president for Technology & Projects. She was the company’s first female platform manager, on the Gullfaks field. She was senior vice president for operations for Veslefrikk and vice president of operations support for the Norwegian continental shelf.
Øvrum holds a Master’s degree in engineering (sivilingeniør) from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) in Trondheim, specializing in technical physics.
Ambassador Chas W. Freeman, Jr. is a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm), acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and Chargé d’affaires at both Bangkok and Beijing. He began his diplomatic career in India but specialized in Chinese affairs. (He was the principal American interpreter for President Nixon’s visit to Beijing in 1972.) He remains a frequent visitor to China as well as Arabia.
Ambassador Freeman is a much sought-after public speaker and the author of five books on statecraft and diplomacy. His most recent work on China, Interesting Times: China, America, and the Shifting Balance of Prestige, was published in March 2013. America’s Continuing Misadventures in the Middle East came out in May 2016. He studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and in Taiwan, and earned an A.B. magna cum laude from Yale University as well as a J.D. from Harvard.
As Chairman of Projects International, Ambassador Freeman has developed new business, arranged international private-sector joint ventures, acquisitions, and other business operations for American and foreign clients.
Bernard is responsible for BP’s Upstream segment which consists of exploration, development and production.
He holds an Honors Degree in Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin, and an MS in Management from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
Bernard joined BP in 1991 as a Drilling Engineer. He has worked in the North Sea, Vietnam, Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, prior to taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer, Production in February 2013.

Spencer Dale joined BP as Group Chief Economist in October 2014. Prior to that, he was Executive Director for Financial stability at the Bank of England and a member of the Financial Policy Committee. Between 2008 and 2014, Spencer was Chief Economist of the Bank of England and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. Spencer joined the Bank of England in 1989 and served in numerous roles, including Private Secretary to Mervyn King and Head of Economic Forecasting. Spencer served as a Senior Advisor at the US Federal Reserve Board of Governors between 2006 and 2008.
Ms. Kathleen Eisbrenner is Chairman and CEO of NextDecade, LLC, a company positioned to create innovative opportunities in the global integrated natural gas industry. NextDecade brings together a team of industry-leading partners to develop land-based and floating LNG projects around the world.

Ed Merrow is the Founder and CEO of Independent Project Analysis, Inc. (IPA), the global industry leader in quantitative analysis of project management systems. After receiving degrees from Dartmouth College and Princeton University in the U.S., Merrow began his career as an Assistant Professor at UCLA, followed by 14 years directing the Rand Corporation’s Energy Policy Program. He is a recognized expert on the development and execution of large and complex megaprojects, having spent decades conducting research on the unique challenges of these complex investments. Merrow’s pioneering research has culminated in the publication of his book, Industrial Megaprojects—Concepts, Strategies, and Practices for Success. Merrow founded IPA in 1987. With six offices spanning the globe, IPA evaluates capital intensive projects of national and international oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, and mineral companies, benchmarking their cost, schedules, safety, startup, and operational performance. IPA also evaluates site-based project systems, conducts assessments of project organizations and teams, promotes cost engineering best practices, and leads capital project research and training. IPA will celebrate its 30th anniversary in November of this year.
Bob Dudley became Group Chief Executive of BP plc in 2010.
Bob joined the oil and gas industry in 1979 and has held a variety of engineering, commercial and strategy posts in the US, the UK, Russia and China.
In 2009, Bob was appointed to the BP Board with accountability for the Americas and Asia.
From 2003 to 2008 Bob served as President and CEO of TNK-BP in Moscow.
Following BP’s sale of TNK-BP in Russia and acquisition of ~20% of Rosneft, he joined the Rosneft board in 2013.
Previous roles include Vice President for Alternative and Renewable Energy activities and Vice President responsible for BP’s upstream business in Russia, the Caspian region and Africa.

Bob Maguire is a Managing Director at The Carlyle Group, in charge of the Carlyle International Energy Group Fund, a $2.5 billion fund whose main focus is Europe and Africa.
Mr. Maguire has been active in the global energy markets since 1986. Most recently he was a Partner at Perella Weinberg Partners, based in London, heading up the Energy Group.
Prior to Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Maguire was at Basin Capital Partners, an energy-focused private equity firm of which he was a founding partner.
Mr. Maguire was, for over 20 years, an investment banker in Morgan Stanley’s energy group. From 2003 until the time of his departure in April 2007, Mr. Maguire was involved in numerous significant transactions in the energy space, including mergers such as BP/Amoco, Elf/Total and Statoil/Norsk Hydro, privatizations such as Statoil, Rosneft, Gazprom and Sinopec, acquisitions such as BP/Arco and Shell/Enterprise and joint ventures such as TNK-BP and LUKArco. In addition, he was responsible for establishing and maintaining Morgan Stanley’s relationships with senior executives from leading energy companies in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Maguire was a lawyer with White & Case in New York and London.

Dr Mario Ruscev joined Weatherford in March 2016 as serves as Executive Vice President, President Global Product Lines and Chief Technology Officer. Dr Ruscev brings more than 30 years of global operations experience in the oil-field service and technology industries, including 23 years at Schlumberger and, most recently, serving as Chief Technology Officer of Baker Hughes. Prior to joining Baker Hughes, Dr Ruscev served as Chief Executive Officer of Geotech Seismic Services and as Chief Executive Officer of FormFactor, a semiconductor testing equipment manufacturer that uses nanotechnology.
Early in his career, Dr Ruscev led a team that developed a container imaging system based on a new type of sensor and a luggage screening system still in use today. Subsequently, he has led a number of teams whose work has significantly advanced the success of wireline logging tools, seismic resolution and measurement capabilities and underground water management and carbon sequestration.
Dr Ruscev earned his Doctorate in nuclear physics from the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris and his PhD in nuclear physics from Yale University. He is also a Director of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute.
Ignacio de Calonje is Chief Investment Officer in IFC’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department. He is responsible for managing IFC’s Western European based clients in the oil, gas and mining sectors. Prior to his posting in London, Mr de Calonje was based in Istanbul, Cairo and Washington DC for IFC. During his nearly 12 years at IFC Mr de Calonje has worked on numerous equity and debt investments in the natural resources space in emerging markets. Before joining IFC, he worked for Lehman Brothers’ investment banking division (1997-2002) in London and Madrid advising Spanish and UK corporate clients in mergers, acquisitions and debt capital market transactions.
Mr de Calonje has a BSc in business administration from Universidad San Pablo-CEU (Madrid) and a Masters Degree from Columbia University (New York).

Occo Roelofsen is a director in McKinsey and Co.’s Amsterdam office. He specializes in the oil and gas sector, with a particular focus on exploration and production, and is also active in the power sector.
Mr. Roelofsen is the leader of McKinsey’s Oil & Gas Practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and heads its work on strategy and capital productivity in the sector, developing tools and approaches for its clients worldwide and directing its research. In that capacity, he leads McKinsey’s thinking on global oil supply and demand and directs its work on historic drivers of growth for exploration and production companies and on transforming performance in capital projects and technology.
David Ledesma is an independent strategy and LNG consultant focusing on the gas value chain. This includes the structuring of commercial arrangements, supporting financing, analysing markets and the review and commenting on the pricing of oil and gas globally. David is a Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. In May 2013 David was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Pavilion Energy, a subsidiary of the Singapore investment firm Temasek Holdings.
Daniel Jaeggi is President of Mercuria Energy Group. Together with Marco Dunand, he co-founded Mercuria Energy Trading S.A. in 2004, which within a few years became one of the leading energy and commodity trading companies world-wide. Previous to this, Mr. Jaeggi directed the launch of Sempra Oil Trading SARL in Europe, where together with Mr. Dunand he was responsible for trading operations in Europe and Asia.
Mercuria, primarily focused on energy, is present all along the commodities value chain with activities forming a balanced combination of commodity flows and strategic assets. More than 1,000 people are operating from offices worldwide to sustain the Group’s extensive business reach with market knowledge, diversity, and experience.
In 2014, Mercuria completed the acquisition of the physical commodities unit of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina), one of China’s largest chemical companies completed a strategic investment in Mercuria in 2015.
From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Jaeggi directed trading operations at Salomon Brothers in London, covering Europe and Asia. From 1987 to 1994 while based in London at Goldman Sachs’ J.Aron division, Mr. Jaeggi traded crude oil and petrochemical feed-stocks.
Prior to that, Mr. Jaeggi was at Cargill International S.A. in Switzerland, responsible for trading Naphtha and LPG.
A native Swiss citizen, Mr. Jaeggi studied political science at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris, the University of Geneva and the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales. He holds a master’s degree in Political Science from HEI.

Stephen Dunbar-Johnson is the President, International of The New York Times Company and is responsible for the P&L oversight and strategic development of the NYT Co’s international digital and print business.
Stephen was appointed President, International for the New York Times Company in October 2013 to lead the global expansion of the Company. Previously, he was Publisher of the International Herald Tribune (IHT), a position he assumed in January 2008. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President of the IHT with responsibility for worldwide commercial operations and strategic development.
He oversaw the IHT’s expansion in Asia, the growth of its advertising revenue streams, the development of its conference business particularly with the IHT’s luxury conference series, , new product development and the restructure of the newspaper’s cost base.
Before that, he held the position of Senior Vice President and Commercial Director where his primary responsibility was for newspaper revenue streams. He also played a key role in the integration of advertising, and other aspects of the IHT’s commercial operations, with the New York Times when it took full ownership of the IHT in 2003.
Before joining the IHT, Mr Dunbar-Johnson was the UK Advertising director of the Financial Times. During his twelve years at the Financial Times, he held various positions in the paper’s advertising department, including manager in France and vice president of advertising in the Americas based in New York.
Mr. Dunbar-Johnson was educated at Worth School and Kent University in the U.K. He has completed an executive management program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the Sulzberger program at the Columbia School of Journalism.
Herman Franssen is Executive Director of Energy Intelligence and a member of the Energy Intelligence International Advisory Board. He is also President of International Energy Associates, a Distinguished Associate with Fesharaki & Associates, a Senior Associate of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, an Adjunct Scholar with the Middle East Institute, a member of the Windsor Group and a Senior Fellow of Middle East Consultants. Dr. Franssen is a member of several editorial boards and energy publications and a member of the board of a US upstream and downstream company.
Between 1985 and 1996, Dr. Franssen was Senior Economic Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum and Minerals of the Sultanate of Oman and helped organize the Independent Petroleum Exporting Countries (IPEC) in 1986. From 1980 to 1985, he was Chief Economist at the International Energy Agency, having previously been Director of the Office of International Market Analysis at the US Department of Energy and an energy specialist at the US Congressional Research Service.
Dr. Franssen was educated in The Netherlands and the US. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Macalester College and a Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy and doctorate from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Lara Sidawi Moore has been with Energy Intelligence for 15 years.
Mrs. Sidawi Moore was appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee at Energy Intelligence in June 2012. Prior to this, she ran the Strategy & Operations of Energy Intelligence from December 2008, implementing new services and technology platforms. In 2002, Mrs. Sidawi Moore founded and developed Energy Intelligence Research, now Energy Intelligence Research & Advisory, an independent arm of the company which provides clients with detailed analytic reports and retainer services.
Mrs. Sidawi Moore joined Energy Intelligence in December 2001 as Director of Finance, analyzing the company’s profitability on a product-by-product basis, having fulfilled the Associate Global Investment Training Program at JPMorgan Chase in 2001. Prior to this, Mrs. Sidawi Moore’s career included advising fashion brands such as Armani Prive and John Galliano for Dior, helping to develop their niche brand extension global growth strategies.
Mrs. Sidawi Moore has a BA in business management and fashion design from the European Business School and Central Saint Martins, London, in 1998. She later received an MBA in both international finance and information systems from American University in 2000 and an executive marketing management certification from Insead, Fontainebleau, in 2003.
Thomas Wallin has worked at Energy Intelligence for over 30 years in a variety of key positions. He is currently Editor-in-Chief and Executive Vice President.
Mr. Wallin served as President of Energy Intelligence from February 1999 until April 2011. Prior to that, he was Group Editor, overseeing the company’s editorial work with primary responsibility for managing the firm’s newsletters and other published products. Mr. Wallin has played a central role in creating new, revitalizing established and developing the web versions of Energy Intelligence’s information services. He was previously Editor of Petroleum Intelligence Weekly and also served as the London Bureau Chief in the mid-1980s. Prior to that, he was a reporter based in New York.
As both a reporter and editor, he has covered an extremely wide range of international oil and gas issues over the years, with particular emphasis on oil markets, production and pricing strategies, energy economics and industry analysis.
Mr. Wallin started his career as an editor and analyst, working at the Council on Foreign Relations. He served briefly as an officer in the US Foreign Service before joining Energy Intelligence.
Mr. Wallin holds an MA from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and received a B.A. from Vassar College with a major in history.
Colin studied Economics, Law and Accountancy at Aberdeen University before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He worked with Ernst & Whinney and Touche Ross before setting up accountancy firm, RMD, in Aberdeen, which grew rapidly into a successful corporate finance led practice with offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London. Colin joined Simmons & Company International in 1999 to establish its operations outside of North America. Since then, his team has advised on transactions with an aggregate value of $20 billion, working for many of the world’s largest oil service companies, private equity firms and entrepreneurs. In 2008 Colin set up Simmons Private Equity, providing equity, strategy and management to small oil service businesses. A $200 million second fund followed in 2013. Colin is Chairman of the Investment Committee for both funds. In February 2016, Simmons was acquired by US investment bank, Piper Jaffray. Colin is a non-executive director of Aberdeen Football Club and recently stepped down as Chairman of the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal that raised £3m to build a Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre in Aberdeen.
Having more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector, Marcel van Poecke is primarily an entrepreneur, investor and executive manager. He is the Chairman of AtlasInvest, a private holding company he founded in 2007. AtlasInvest is engaged in investments across the broad energy spectrum.
Mr. van Poecke is Head and Managing Director for Carlyle International Energy Partners (CIEP). CIEP focuses on the energy sector outside North America with a particular focus on oil and gas: upstream, midstream, downstream and oil-field services.
Mr. van Poecke is also Chairman of Oranje-Nassau Energie, an AtlasInvest portfolio company with oil and gas assets in the North Sea and West Africa, with a long track record of running a diversified upstream portfolio; Vice Chairman of Energy Intelligence; and a nonexecutive director on the boards of Argos-North Sea Group, Hestya, VARO and Discover Exploration.
Prior to forming AtlasInvest, he founded Petroplus from a management buyout in 1993 and successfully led its growth into the largest independent oil refiner in Europe through several major acquisitions and divestments. Petroplus was taken private in 2005 in a transaction led by Carlyle/Riverstone and management. In 2006, Mr. van Poecke exited Petroplus following the company’s successful initial public offering on the Zurich stock exchange. The transaction was the highest multiple return investment for the Carlyle/Riverstone Energy Fund.
Mr. van Poecke has a degree in agricultural business administration from the University of Wageningen and a Masters in Business Administration from the William E. Simon School of Management of the University of Rochester, USA.
Mr. van Poecke was born in 1960, is married and has six children.
Malcolm Turner is a graduate of Rice University with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering. He was employed by Conoco and Purvin & Gertz prior to organizing and founding the consulting firm Turner, Mason & Company. The firm and activities focus on all petroleum matters “above the ground” – they are not E&P nor drilling oriented. Primarily, the company address all activities related to petroleum refining – including litigation , appraisals, venture development, process configurations, financing and economics projections. They are also active in transportation, pipelines, terminals and shipping matters. Their staff includes diverse experience and expertise plus they rely on contract specialists in many circumstances
Harry Tchilinguirian is Global Head of Commodity Markets Strategy and Senior Oil Market Strategist with BNP Paribas’ Commodity Derivatives Group in London. Harry joined BNP Paribas in August of 2006 from the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, France where he worked for 6 years in the Oil Markets and Industry Division. As Senior Oil Market Analyst, he was a contributor to the IEA’s benchmark monthly Oil Market Report.
Harry’s responsibilities at the IEA also included regular presentations to the various IEA government committees and the office of the Executive Director. Prior to joining the IEA, Harry worked with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, (OECD), in the Economic Departments.
Harry Tchilinguirian holds undergraduate (BA) degrees in Economics from the University of Toronto (Canada) and the University of Paris IX – Dauphine (France) alongside a Masters (MA) degree in Economics from the University of Paris IX – Dauphine.
Jan Prins is the Independent Consultant of Energy and Infrastructure Finance. He retired after 33 years of service with ABN AMRO Bank and a career in international business.
At ABN AMRO he has held various global management positions, mostly related to international energy and infrastructure finance, including both Global Head of Structured Products (for business lines including project finance; trade and export finance; commodity finance; and asset based lending and leasing) and Global Head of Corporate Finance Energy (advisory on mergers and acquisitions and business strategy). Special assignments included heading the Tyumen Oil Task Force for advising the Russian oil sector in West Siberia (early ‘90s). At ABN AMRO he has furthermore held several international positions in New York, Houston and Singapore.

Dr Dawood Nassif is Board Director of The Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) and Advisor to The Oil & Gas Holding Company (Nogaholding) also in Bahrain.
He has 35 years experience in the Petroleum Refining Industry and has worked in Refineries sand with Contractors around the word including Singapore, Sydney, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Dr Nassif has been a member of the Advisory Board of the European Refining Conference from 2005 to 2016.
He is a Chartered Scientist, Fellow of the Science Council UK and a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK.
Dr Nassif has a BSc, MSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering.
Julian is the Global Head of the Energy and Power team at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and is responsible for development of the firm’s business in the Energy and Power sector globally.
Recent deals that Julian has advised on at Bank of America Merrill Lynch include Shell’s recommended acquisition of BG Group for 63bn USD; the sale of Shell Australia downstream businesses to Vitol for 2.6bn USD; the acquisition by OVL of certain assets in Mozambique from Videocon and Anadarko for 5.1bn USD; the sale of BG’s stake in Comgas Brazil to Cosan for 1.8bn USD; the cross-border swap of LNG assets in Indonesia and Australia between Inpex and Shell; and the sale of a 30 per cent stake in Galp Brazil to Sinopec for 4.8bn USD.

Ali Moshiri joined Chevron in 1978 as a reservoir engineer. From 1983 to 1987, he was supervisor of Reservoir and Facilities Engineering for Chevron Energy Technology Company supporting upstream activities. In 1987, Moshiri joined Chevron Overseas Petroleum in the United Kingdom as manager of Technical Applications for exploration and production activities in the North Sea. In 1991, he became supervisor of Petroleum Engineering for Chevron Overseas Petroleum, with responsibilities for petroleum engineering activities in international operations.
Between 1992 and 1997, Moshiri held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility as manager of Petroleum and Facilities Engineering operations. In 1997, he was named general manager of Strategic Planning and Assets Evaluation for Chevron Overseas Petroleum, with responsibility for 10 international business units; mergers and acquisitions; and new business development. In 2000, Moshiri assumed the position of general manager and advisor to the vice chairman of the board for Chevron Corporation Exploration and Production.
In 2001, Moshiri was appointed managing director of the Latin America business unit, where he was responsible for Chevron’s upstream operations in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela. He assumed his current position in 2008.
Moshiri graduated from the University of Tulsa with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in petroleum engineering in 1978. He is Chairman of the Niger Delta Partnership Initiative and a member of the Jones Graduate School Council of Overseers at Rice University. He also serves on the boards of the Council of the Americas; the Institute of the Americas; the Trust for the Americas; the Organization of American States; the William J. Clinton Foundation’s Presidential Advisory Council on Economic Growth and Investment for Haiti; and the Houston Zoo.
Fyodor Lukyanov has been the editor of the Russia in Global Affairs journal published with the participation of Foreign Affairs since its founding in 2002. Under his leadership the journal became one of the most authoritative sources of independent information on foreign policy and international relations in Russia. He is a research professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow. In December 2012 Mr. Lukyanov was elected as the chairman of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, the oldest Russian nongovernmental organization providing expertise in the field of security and foreign affairs. He is a member of presidium of the Russian International Affairs Council. He is member of the academic council at the Russian foreign ministry. Since 2015 he is research director at the International Valdai discussion club. His column appears regularly in the Russian edition of Forbes magazine, leading Russian newspapers Rossiyskaya Gazeta and Gazeta.ru, he regularly contributes to FT Exchange blog.
Mr. Lukyanov has an extensive background in Russian media since 1990. Now he is one of the most quoted commentators of Russian foreign policy worldwide. He graduated from Moscow State University in 1991 and has a master’s degree in German language and literature.
Didier Houssin has been Chairman and CEO of IFP Energies nouvelles, since April 2015.
Prior to this, in December 2012, he was appointed Director of Sustainable Energy Policy and Technology at the International Energy Agency (IEA). In this role, he was responsible for the development of low-carbon technologies and energy transition (ETP scenarios to 2050, technology roadmaps, carbon capture and sequestration and the IEA’s international RD&D network). From July 2007 to October 2012, he was Director of Energy Markets and Security at the IEA.
Before joining the IEA, Mr. Houssin had gained broad experience in numerous positions both in the French Government and the private industrial sector. From 1997 to 2004, he was Director of Energy and Mineral Resources at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, and from 2004 to 2007, he was Managing Director of BRGM, the French Geological Survey. From 1987 to 1990, he held a position in European Affairs at Total.

David Hewitt is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Equity Research Division, based in Singapore. He is the Co-head of Global Oil & Gas Research, with primary responsibility for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining the asset management industry Mr. Hewitt worked in the oil industry for 18 years, initially with Texaco, then Caltex and finally Chevron. He has been based in the Asia Pacific region for more than 20 years, with experience in the upstream, downstream and mid-stream gas sectors of the industry including 5 years leading LNG negotiations in region.
John B. Hess is Chief Executive Officer of Hess Corporation, a leading independent energy exploration and production company.
Mr. Hess led the Fortune 100 Company through a strategic transformation from an integrated oil company into a pure play E&P company. Hess’ global portfolio is focused in five strategic areas: the Bakken Shale in North Dakota and the Utica Shale in Ohio; the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico; Valhall Field in Norway and South Arne Field in Denmark; offshore West Africa – Equatorial Guinea and Ghana; and offshore Malaysia in the Gulf of Thailand. In the Bakken, Hess is one of the industry leaders as well as one of the largest oil and gas producers.
Mr. Hess currently serves on the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board Quadrennial Review Task Force. He is a member of the Board of Directors of KKR & Company and the Board of Trustees at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is also a member of The Business Council, the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves on the Executive Committee of the American Petroleum Institute. In addition, Mr. Hess serves on the Board of Directors of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and on the Board of Trustees at the New York Public Library and Mount Sinai Hospital.

Andrew Gould serves on the Board of Saudi Aramco and the Advisory Board of Letter1 Energy. He was the Non-Executive Chairman of BG Group, a British multinational natural gas company from May 16 2012 until its sale to Royal Dutch Shell in February 2016.
Prior to this, Mr Gould was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Schlumberger Limited and had previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer, and in many other positions across his 37-year career at Schlumberger.
Mr Gould is a member of the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. He served on the United Kingdom Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology from 2004 to 2007. He was Vice Chairman of Technology for the United States National Petroleum Council’s recent report “Facing Hard Truths about Energy”.

Ambassador Chas W. Freeman, Jr. is a senior fellow at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies, a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense, ambassador to Saudi Arabia (during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm), acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and Chargé d’affaires at both Bangkok and Beijing. He began his diplomatic career in India but specialized in Chinese affairs. (He was the principal American interpreter during President Nixon’s visit to Beijing in 1972.)
Ambassador Freeman is a much sought-after public speaker (see http://chasfreeman.net/) and the author of numerous well-received books on statecraft and diplomacy. His most recent book, America’s Continuing Misadventures in the Middle East, came out in May 2016. Alastair Crooke is Director of the Conflicts Forum based in Italy and Lebanon. He was formerly an adviser on Middle East issues to Javier Solana, the EU Foreign Policy Chief. He was a staff member of Sen. George Mitchell’s Fact-Finding Committee, which inquired into the causes of the Intifada between 2000 and 2001, an adviser to the International Quartet and he facilitated various cease-fires in the Occupied Territories. Mr. Crooke has 20 years of experience working with Islamist movements, particularly Hamas and Hezbollah as well as other Islamist movements in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Middle East. He is author of Resistance: The Essence of the Islamist Revolution (2009) and is a regular commentator in the international media, both in print (currently in particular with the Huffington Post) and on television. He is a member of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations’ Global Experts Panel.
Lance Crist is Global Head of Natural Resources for IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Mr. Crist leads IFC’s financing and advisory services teams responsible for supporting the oil, gas & mining sectors. IFC’s $3 billion investment portfolio in these sectors includes about 70 energy & natural resource companies in over 35 countries across the emerging markets. IFC’s financing includes investments in equity, mezzanine and senior debt; and the advisory services team provides support across a range of areas to assist clients in enhancing their sustainability. Mr. Crist is also a member of the EMPEA Private Equity Energy Council. He joined IFC in 1992 and has managed advisory mandates, project and corporate finance, and private equity transactions in the areas of general manufacturing and telecommunications. He earned a B.A. from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Andy Brown is Upstream Director and a member of the Executive Committee of Royal Dutch Shell since 2012. He is responsible for Shell’s global Upstream business, which includes the exploration and production of oil and gas from conventional, shale and deep-water sources.
He joined Shell after completing his degree in Engineering Science at Cambridge University. Between 1984 to 2000, Mr Brown worked in New Zealand, The Netherlands, Italy, Brunei and Oman in engineering and project management roles.

Kamel Ben Naceur is the IEA Director for Sustainability, Technology and Outlooks, overseeing the Energy and Environment, Energy Technology Policy and Energy Supply and Demand Outlook divisions. His Directorate oversees the production of the World Energy Outlook and the Energy Technology Perspectives.
Mr. Ben Naceur has more than 34 years of experience and knowledge in the energy and industry sectors around the world in both public and private service.
After joining the research and development division of the energy multinational Schlumberger, he took charge of developing several key technologies in the upstream sector. He then moved to management roles in Africa, North and South America, Europe, the former Soviet Union, and the Middle East and North Africa regions in the oil and gas sectors. In 2004, he started the Oilfield Services Business Unit developing carbon capture and storage (CCS) prospects, working extensively with regulators and policy makers.
In 2006, he was seconded from Schlumberger to the IEA Energy Technology Perspectives Division, where he helped write publications on policies including industrial energy efficiency and ETP. In 2007, also on secondment, he joined the IEA World Energy Outlook (WEO) team, where he was a co-author of a book on CCS and participated in two editions of the annual WEO.
In 2009, he became the Chief Economist at Schlumberger in Paris, responsible for the strategic outlook for the largest oil and gas services company. In 2011, he became the President of the Schlumberger technology organisation in Rio de Janeiro, handling challenging technology and solutions development for the offshore sectors (especially deepwater/pre-salt exploration) as well as South America-specific issues.
In 2014, he became Tunisia’s Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines in a government tasked to lead the country’s first fully democratic elections and to restore the country’s economic fundamentals. During his tenure, he implemented new policies for energy subsidies rationalisation, as well as having won approval of a law on renewable energy implementation. At the end of his government tenure, he returned to Schlumberger as Senior Advisor and Vice President for technology, based in Paris.
Mr. Ben Naceur has served on several boards of international businesses and organizations, and has received several medals and recognitions. He is the co-author of 13 books and more than 120 articles.
A French-Tunisian dual national, Mr. Ben Naceur is a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Normale Supérieure of France, with an Agrégation de Mathématiques.
Frédéric Barnaud was educated at one of France’s elite scientific and business schools (École Nationale des Ponts & Chaussées) and at the Institute for Energy Studies at Oxford University. He also studied financial and commodities markets at Cass Business School in London. Mr. Barnaud worked for Total from 1990 until 2008, initially in the Oil Trading & Shipping Division, then in the Refining & Marketing Division, and finally in the Gas & Power Division to build Total’s LNG portfolio and oversee its LNG Trading & Shipping desk.
In 2008, Mr. Barnaud joined the Gazprom Marketing & Trading Group to set up, grow and manage the global LNG trading, commercial and shipping activities. Mr. Barnaud also runs the Oil, LPG, Helium and Shipping businesses of GM&T. He has been promoting the increasingly active participation of Gazprom in the international energy markets to complement its traditional European pipeline gas business.
Mr. Barnaud is a member of GM&T Executive Committee and specifically oversees the LNG, Oil/LPG and Shipping activities on a global level.
Dr. Fahad M. Alturki is Chief Economist and Head of Research at Jadwa investment Company in Riyadh. He is also a member of its Executive Management Committee. He is responsible for managing the economic research department and publishes regularly on issues related to the Saudi and global economies and the world oil market. He appears frequently in the domestic and international media and is a regular public speaker.
Prior to joining Jadwa, Fahad led the Macroeconomics Research unit at Barclays Saudi Arabia with similar responsibilities. Previously, Fahad was an Economic Specialist at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency where he worked for eleven years in the Economic Research and Statistics Department. Between 2007-09, Fahad was an economist at the International Monetary Fund at the Middle East and Central Asia Department.
Fahad graduated with a BA in business administration (majoring accounting) from King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, and has a Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in economics from University of Oregon (Eugene, USA).
Dr. Sadad Al Husseini is the founder and president of Husseini Energy Company, a highly specialized boutique oil and gas consulting firm based in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia that caters to an executive clientele in international finance and in the oil and gas industry.
Dr Sadad’s career started in Aramco where he became Senior Vice President for Exploration and Producing starting in 1986 and later Executive VP for Upstream Operations from 1996 until his retirement in 2004. He is credited with the modern re-development of many of Saudi Aramco’s vast oil fields, the discovery and development of its Paleozoic oil and gas fields and the establishment of its leading edge Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center in Dhahran. He was also special representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its natural gas negotiations from 2000 to 2003. Dr Al Husseini served on Aramco’s Board of Directors from 1996 to 2004 as well as on the Board of the Saudi Electricity Company from 1999 to 2003.
Dr Sadad Al Husseini obtained his BSc in geology from the American University and an MSc and PhD in Geological Sciences from Brown University. He was elected distinguished and honorary member of the American Institute of Metallurgical Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is also a distinguished Graduate of Brown University. He is currently a member of the EIG Advisory Board and Senior Energy Advisor at the King Faisal Foundation. Dr Sadad Al Husseini is a recipient of the King Abdul Aziz Medal of Honor in the First Degree.
John S. Watson, 59, is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2010.
Previously Watson served as vice chairman of the board from 2009 to 2010 and was responsible for business development; mergers and acquisitions; strategic planning; corporate compliance; policy, government and public affairs; procurement; and the Project Resources Company. In 2008, he was elected executive vice president for strategy and development. In 2005, Watson was elected president of Chevron International Exploration and Production Company. In 2000, he led the company’s integration effort following the Chevron-Texaco merger and then became the corporation’s chief financial officer. In 1998, he was elected a vice president of the corporation, with responsibility for strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to being elected president of Chevron Canada Limited in 1996, he held financial, analytical and supervisory positions.
Watson serves on the board of directors and the executive committee of the American Petroleum Institute. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council, The Business Council, the Business Roundtable, the J.P. Morgan International Council, the American Society of Corporate Executives and the University of California Davis Chancellor’s Board of Advisors.
Watson joined Chevron in 1980 as a financial analyst. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of California, Davis, in 1978 and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago in 1980.
Igor Sechin graduated from Leningrad State University in 1984 with a PhD in Economics. From 2000 until 2008 he was Deputy Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Russian Federation and for the last four years he was also Aide to the President of the Russian Federation. From 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Mr Sechin was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rosneft from 2004 to 2011. Since May 2012 he has been President of Rosneft and Chairman of Rosneft’s Management Board. His Excellency Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo of Nigeria began his tenure as Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on 1 August 2016.
An accomplished oil technocrat and veteran of OPEC, Mr Barkindo possesses a wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry, both in Nigeria and internationally.
From 2009 to 2010, he was Group Managing Director and CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Previous to that, he served as Deputy Managing Director of Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, a joint venture between NNPC, Shell, Total and Eni. Earlier in his career, he was Special Assistant to former Minister of Petroleum Resources and OPEC Secretary General, the legendary HE Dr Rilwanu Lukman KBE.
Mr Barkindo also worked in several key roles at OPEC between 1986 and 2010. In 1986, he was appointed to Nigeria’s delegation to OPEC, and from 1993 to 2008, served as Nigeria’s National Representative on the Organization’s Economic Commission Board. In 2006, he was Acting Secretary General of OPEC, and represented Nigeria on OPEC’s Board of Governors from 2009 to 2010. Prior to that, he was at several times ad hoc Governor to OPEC, representing his country, Nigeria.
As leader of Nigeria’s technical delegation to the UN climate change negotiations since 1991, Mr Barkindo contributed to producing the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto protocol. He served as Chair of the Group of 77 and China at the UNFCCC and was elected to serve three terms as Vice President of the Conference of the Parties – COP13 (Bali, Indonesia), COP14 (Poznan, Poland) and COP15 (Copenhagen, Denmark), where he chaired the opening session attended by more than 100 heads of state and government. He is the longest serving member of Nigeria’s delegation to the UNFCCC. He also served as Chairman of the OPEC Task Force of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development for the 15th session.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Mr Barkindo went on to achieve a postgraduate diploma in petroleum economics and management from the College of Petroleum Studies at Oxford and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Southeastern University in Washington, DC. He is also a holder of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science from Modibbo Adama, Federal University of Technology, Yola, Nigeria. He was a Visiting Fellow on Energy, Climate Change & Sustainable Development at the George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, USA, from 2013 to 2016. He is a member of various international petroleum institutions such as the Institute of Petroleum in London.

Torbjörn Törnqvist has spent more than 30 years in the oil and gas industry, and co-founded Gunvor Group in 2000. He began his career at British Petroleum, where he worked from 1977 to 1983, and then became Head of Oil Trading at Scandinavian Trading Co AB until 1989. Prior to founding Gunvor, he was Managing Director for the oil division of Intermaritime Group Petrotrade.

He is now focused on developing Gunvor’s diversified operations a fully integrated global commodities trading house.

Ian has over 30 years’ experience in the energy sector. He began his career with Shell in 1978 and worked in both South America and South East Asia before joining Vitol in 1985. At Vitol he established the crude oil group and was MD of Vitol Asia, prior to being appointed CEO in 1995. Under his leadership, Vitol has grown to become the leading physical trader of energy, with a turnover of $270 billion and offices in circa 40 countries worldwide. As well expanding its trading portfolio and upstream expertise, Vitol has invested in a range of complementary, largely downstream businesses, including refineries, energy infrastructure, such as terminal and storage, and 2,300 Shell branded service stations across Africa and Australia. Ian has an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford.
Charif Souki has served as a Director and Chairman of the board of Tellurian Investments since February 23, 2016. Mr. Souki founded Cheniere Energy in 1996 and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and President until December 2015. Prior to joining Cheniere, Mr. Souki had over 20 years of independent investment banking experience in the energy industry and specialized in financing for small capitalization companies with an emphasis on the oil and gas industry. Mr. Souki serves on the board of trustees of the American University of Beirut and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Center on Global Energy policy at Columbia University. Mr. Souki received a BA from Colgate University and an MBA from Columbia University.
Scott Sheffield, a distinguished graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering, is Chairman and CEO of Pioneer Natural Resources. In 1979, Sheffield became the fifth employee of Parker & Parsley Petroleum in Midland, Texas, and sole staff engineer. By 1991, he was Chairman and CEO of Parker & Parsley, and under his leadership Parker & Parsley merged with MESA Inc. to form Pioneer in 1997. Today, Pioneer is a large independent E&P company with reserves of approximately 10 billion barrels equivalent of total resource, an enterprise value of $24 billion and approximately 3,600 employees. Pioneer is considered a leader in developing oil-rich shale plays and ranks as the most active operator in the Permian Basin and one of the most active in the United States. Sheffield serves on the boards of the National Petroleum Council, Santos Ltd., and the Maguire Energy Institute of the SMU Cox School of Business.
Eldar Sætre was appointed President and CEO of Statoil in February 2015. He joined Statoil in 1980 and has held several management positions in the company, mainly in the fields of accounting and finance. He was Executive Vice President and CFO from October 2003 to December 2010, when he became Executive Vice President for Marketing, Processing and Renewable energy (MPR). In MPR, he had responsibility for all downstream, midstream and renewable energy activities in Statoil. He is a member of the board of Strømberg Gruppen AS and Trucknor AS. Eldar has an MA in Business Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) in Bergen.
Dave Pursell serves as Managing Director and Head of Macro Research at Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Dave is responsible for TPH’s analysis of global oil & gas markets, including inventory and price forecasts, supply/demand modeling and rigcount/production relationships. He sits on the Investment Committee of TPH Partners LP, TPH’s private equity division and is a board member of several private energy companies. He was a Founding Partner of Pickering Energy Partners, the predecessor to TPH. Prior to that, he was Director of Upstream Research at Simmons & Company, International and spent eight years as a Petroleum Engineer at S.A. Holditch & Associates, now a division of Schlumberger. He gained operational experience with ARCO Alaska, Inc., conducting field engineering and operations. He holds a BS and MS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Thomas D. O’Malley currently serves as Executive Chairman of PBF Energy Company LLC, a public Company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. PBF, a Fortune 150 Company, is the fifth largest independent crude oil refiner in the US.
From 1990 through 2011, Mr. O’Malley served as the CEO and/or Chairman of various public companies in the energy sector. He has served on the Boards of Salomon Brothers, Tosco Corporation, Premcor Corp, Phillips Petroleum, Lowes Corp, Petroplus and Petsmart.
He has also served on the boards of many educational and charitable organizations, and recently retired as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Manhattan College, his alma mater.
He has received many honors in recent years, including the Refining Leadership Award from Harts, the Director’s Award for Global Vision from the Mercantile Exchange, the Humanitarian Award from the National Conference of Christians & Jews, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and Manhattan College’s De La Salle Medal. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters by Manhattan College in 2012.
Born on Staten Island, New York, O’Malley earned his Bachelor’s in Economics from Manhattan College in 1963 and now resides in Palm Beach, Florida. He and his wife, Mary Alice, have four grown children and nine grandchildren.
David I. Foley is a Senior Managing Director in the Private Equity Group and Chief Executive Officer of Blackstone Energy Partners. Mr. Foley is based in New York and is responsible for overseeing Blackstone’s private equity investment activities in the energy & natural resource sector on a global basis.
Since joining Blackstone in 1995, Mr. Foley has been responsible for building the Blackstone energy & natural resources practice and has played an integral role in every private equity energy deal that the firm has invested in, including: Premcor, Kosmos Energy, Foundation Coal, Texas Genco, Sithe Global Power, OSUM Oil Sands, PBF Energy, Global Offshore Wind, GeoSouthern, Alta Resources, Moser Baer, Cheniere and LLOG Exploration. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Foley worked with AEA Investors in the firm’s private equity business, and prior to that served as a consultant for the Monitor Company.
Mr. Foley received a BA and an MA in Economics, with honors, Phi Beta Kappa, from Northwestern University and received an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.
Dr. Bernard J. Duroc-Danner is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford International plc, a worldwide provider of mechanical solutions, technology and services for the international drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry. Weatherford operates through an extensive infrastructure in over 100 countries and employs about 40,000 people worldwide.
In 1987 Dr. Duroc-Danner was present from inception for the startup of EVI, Inc., Weatherford’s predecessor company, and led its growth and development in the oilfield services and equipment industry. In 1998, EVI, Inc., acquired Weatherford Enterra and adopted the new name of Weatherford International, Inc. Weatherford’s growth thereon was both organic and acquisitive. Organic focus and growth has become gradually more important.
In 2000, Weatherford dividended Grant Prideco, its tubular and drill pipe subsidiary, to its shareholders and Grant traded separately on the New York Stock Exchange.
Dr. Duroc-Danner is a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Before forming EVI, Inc., Dr. Duroc-Danner held positions at Mobil Oil Inc., and Arthur D. Little Inc.
Bob’s external roles include membership of various Business Councils, the UK/UAE CEO’s Forum, the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua School of Economics in Beijing, and the Russian Geographical Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Deborah is the Managing Partner of EY’s Houston office and also serves as the US Oil & Gas Leader. Deborah previously was the Managing Partner of the EY Americas Oil & Gas Tax Group and the Transactions Advisory Group in the Southwest Region where she focused on Energy transactions. Deborah is a transaction tax partner with more than 29 years of experience serving both US and non-US based multinationals with in-depth expertise on structuring and financing corporate expansions and joint ventures.
Deborah has significant experience working with upstream companies, both public and private, private equity investors in upstream and sovereign wealth funds. She has also worked with companies reviewing tax and economic considerations in transactions involving Master Limited Partnerships, including initial review related to proof of concept, tax modeling, and structuring and execution of initial IPO, and a deep knowledge in tax and economic issues surrounding development of gas shale reserves in North America, Global LNG development projects, PSA and royalty regimes around the world.
Deborah is a frequent speaker (and writer) on oil and gas industry issues, as well as on energy tax and transaction matters. rnaud Breuillac, 57, graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Lyon in 1981.
He joined TOTAL in 1982 and has served in various positions in its Exploration & Production Division, including Abu Dhabi, the United Kingdom, Indonesia and Angola as well as the Refining Division in France.
From 2004 to 2006, he held the position of Vice President, Middle East ‐ Iran. In December 2006, he was appointed to the Management Committee of the Exploration & Production Division, concurrent with a new role as Senior Vice‐President, Continental Europe and Central Asia.
In July, 2010, he was appointed President, Exploration & Production, Middle East and in January, 2011, became a member of the Group’s Management Committee.
On January 1st 2014, Arnaud Breuillac became TOTAL’s President, Exploration & Production, responsible for the Company’s increasingly diverse portfolio around the world.
Dr. Fatih Birol took office as Executive Director on 1 September 2015, twenty years after first joining the International Energy Agency (IEA). Prior to being elected as Executive Director, Dr. Birol held the positions of Chief Economist and Director of Global Energy Economics, with responsibilities that included directing the flagship World Energy Outlook publication. He is also the founder and chair of the IEA Energy Business Council. Dr. Birol has been named by Forbes Magazine among the most powerful people in terms of influence on the world’s energy scene. He is the Chairman of the World Economic Forum’s (Davos) Energy Advisory Board and has served on UN Secretary-General’s ‘High-Level Group on Sustainable Energy for All’. Dr. Birol is also the recipient of numerous awards from government, industry and academia. Prior to joining the IEA, Dr. Birol worked at the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna, where his responsibilities related to analysis of oil markets. A Turkish citizen, Dr. Birol was born in Ankara in 1958. He earned a BSc degree in power engineering from the Technical University of Istanbul. He received his MSc and PhD in energy economics from the Technical University of Vienna. In 2013, Dr. Birol was awarded a Doctorate of Science honoris causa by Imperial College London.

Ryan M. Lance has served as chairman and chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest independent exploration and production company based on production and reserves, since 2012. He is also chairman of the Executive Committee for ConocoPhillips.
Ryan is a petroleum engineer with 31 years of oil and natural gas industry experience in senior management and technical positions with ConocoPhillips, predecessor Phillips Petroleum and ARCO. His past ConocoPhillips executive assignments included responsibility for international exploration and production, regional responsibility at various times for Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America, and responsibility for technology, major projects, downstream strategy, integration and specialty functions.
Externally, Ryan serves as 2016 chairman of the American Petroleum Institute. He is also an advocate for charities benefiting youth through his service on the board of Spindletop International, and a member of the board of directors for the Montana Tech Foundation, and the advisory council of the University of Texas Energy Institute.
Ryan is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from Montana Tech in Butte in 1984.
A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rex Tillerson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering at the University of Texas at Austin before joining Exxon Co., USA, in 1975 as a production engineer.
In 1989, he became general manager of Exxon Co. USA’s central production division, responsible for oil and gas production operations throughout a large portion of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas.
In 1992, Mr. Tillerson was named production adviser to Exxon Corp. Three years later he was named President of Exxon Yemen Inc. and Esso Exploration and Production Khorat Inc., and in January 1998 became Vice President of Exxon Ventures (CIS) Inc. and President of Exxon Neftegas Ltd. In those roles, he was responsible for Exxon’s holdings in Russia and the Caspian Sea as well as the Sakhalin I consortium operations offshore Sakhalin Island, Russia.
In December 1999, he became Executive Vice President of Exxon Mobil Development Co. Mr. Tillerson was named Senior Vice President of Exxon Mobil Corp. in August 2001, and was elected President of the corporation and member of the board of directors on Mar. 1, 2004. He assumed his current position on Jan. 1, 2006.
Mr. Tillerson is a member of the executive committee and a former Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and a trustee of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council, a member of the Business Roundtable, a member of the Business Council, an honorary trustee of the Business Council for International Understanding and a member of the Emergency Committee for American Trade. In 2013, Mr. Tillerson was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
Mr. Tillerson is the Vice Chairman of the Ford’s Theatre Society, an immediate past National President of the Boy Scouts of America and a former Director of the United Negro College Fund. He is also a member of the Chancellor’s Council, Development Board and the Engineering Advisory Board for the University of Texas at Austin, where he was named a distinguished alumnus in 2007. In 2011, he received an honorary doctorate engineering degree from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 2013, he was awarded the Order of Friendship by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
Khalid Al-Falih was appointed Chairman of the Board of Saudi Aramco in May 2015. He also was appointed to be the Minister of Health for Saudi Arabia at the same time. He joined the company in 1979, and has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility including Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Executive Officer and President from January 1, 2009 until May 1, 2015. Al-Falih has led the expansion of Saudi Aramco’s oil production capacity, the world’s largest, through a number of upstream projects and also significantly increased its refining and petrochemical capabilities through a series of new world class facilities. In addition, the company has played a lead role in international petroleum markets as the world’s largest exporter of crude oil with direct sales to all of the main world markets as well as supplying its own and international refining and marketing partnerships.
